Mr. & Mrs. King,
You have no idea how privelaged I feel today! I headed out early this morning (school is off today, end of term) to meet a friend at his proprty in Idaho, about 1.5 hours away from my house. We took Luna out first with one of his dogs, at first she wasn't doing much. She was just getting used to running with a bigger, unfamiliar dog, but after a few minutes she got all fired up and was looking like a million bucks. Well, long story short...she had 4 wild Sharpie finds, and backed the other dog twice. She also had one find that was unbelievable, slammed on point so hard you would have thought she ran into a brick wall, she held for a few minutes then about 30-40 Sharpies exploded out in front of her. Luna stood there with her head and tail high for a good 30 seconds, then went for a little chase. Today was great, it was all wild birds, no pen raised birds whatsoever. The guy I went with (he actually owns the dog "Bugsy" that went Runner-Up in the All-Age in Eureka a couple days ago) just about stole her from me he liked her so much! It is awesome to see a young pup her age go out and point, back, and hunt like that...just fine genetics at work. I think I am going to stay away from pen raised birds for awhile, run her on wild birds and focus on building her confidence and developing a good forward race...no pressure just a lot of fun.
